Out & About - Judy Roberts and Greg Fishman
Chicago Sun Times-

2004
Judy Roberts and Greg Fishman will
team up to present an evening of cabaret jazz on Wednesday at Maxim's:
The Nancy Goldberg International Center in the Gold Coast.
Although Roberts and
Fishman perform in several other successful groups, including their
Grammy-nominated jazz quartet and Fishman's internationally renowned
duo, Two for Brazil, the entertainers say their favorite format is
their intimate jazz duo.
The interplay between
Roberts' piano and Fishman's saxophone showcases their "musical
mind-reading," and features everything from lush ballads to
free-wheeling Bach-like inventions. Roberts' unique vocal
interpretations of jazz standards and bossa novas, complemented by
Fishman's intense yet sensitive saxophone and flute, give a fresh new
sound to classic material. Their program will feature selections from
the songbooks of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and
Lorenz Hart, and Duke Ellington.
Maxim's is at 24 E.
Goethe. Admission is $20. Reservations are recommended. Call (312)
742-1748. The program is presented by the Chicago Department of
Cultural Affairs as part of the Play on Cabaret series which salutes
the Great American Songbook.
Parking is $10 at 1350 N. Lake Shore for patrons of Maxim's. |
