Rodgers & Hart - A Celebration evokes the sentimental season of love through the songs of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's 18-year collaboration, from 1925-1943. From their first hit song in 1925 to their final show-stopper in 1943, the prolific team of Rodgers and Hart were continually redefining the musical theater with their wit, freshness, and intelligence. In this rousing parody, the first act sets the stage for romance, while the second act is comprised of their more satiric gems. The few lines of narration highlight their careers, but it is the songs that explain their success. This revue has more than 30 of the very best known songs from this celebrated songwriting team, including the evergreens "Johnny One Note," "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "There's A Small Hotel," "The Lady Is A Tramp," and "Falling In Love With Love." In the words of Irving Berlin (the topic of last year's show), "Tuneful and tasty, schmaltzy and smart - music by Rodgers, lyrics by Hart!" Come see how the autobiographies of the famous composer and lyricist are woven through musical numbers exploring love found, lost, unrequited, and celebrated. Garden State Chorale is a non-profit organization composed of members from more than 25 South Jersey communities. In addition to the annual holiday concert in December, fund-raising concert in March, and Broadway production in May, the Chorale performs at various public and private functions throughout the year. The mission of the Garden State Chorale is to participate, promote public interest, and strive for excellence in the presentation of multi-faceted musical entertainment.
